In the 1950s when I was a kid, my parent's summer vacation trip consisted of a visit to Rock City Gardens on Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga and a quick visit to Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains. We did this every summer, year end and year out, without fail. And always over a two day weekend span. Dad had to get back to work on Monday.
And now my youngest grands get to experience that summer trip of their grandfather and their great-grandparents by enjoying a day trip to Rock City followed by an evening visit to Gatlinburg! What goes around, comes around as they say.
