Toot’s, a rather strangely named restaurant in Murfreesboro,
Tennessee opened in 1985 according to a large sign behind the bar. We visited
the original Toot’s restaurant on Broad Street and there are now several
locations of this popular restaurant in the mid south area. They advertise themselves as good food and fun
and a “Tennessee Original”.
A noisy, fun like atmosphere is prevalent when you enter the
restaurant and with its long bar you think that you are in a tavern like establishment,
but the restaurant is definitely a family place with kids and families at many
of the tables.
Their menu consists of the usual hamburgers. Salads, ribs, seafood
baskets and the Buffalo wings and fingers that are popular with the bar crowd.
My food choice was from the slider menu--the avocado turkey melt which
consisted of turkey breast, pepper jack cheese and sliced avocado on three mini
buns. The order came with a choice of
one of numerous side dishes. I chose
cole slaw as my side dish. The siders
were delicious and quite tasty. The side
dish of cole slaw was served in a boat type bowl which was bigger than my three
turkey melts. My wife had the Toot’s
burger which came with bacon, cheese and a special barbeque sauce. The sandwich was so large that my wife had to
cut it with the knife and eat it with a fork.
She was very satisfied with the burger.
The service was quick and the servers were very courteous.
Even though it was 4 p.m. in the afternoon, the restaurant was crowded and
noisy, but the atmosphere is what is to be expected in this family friendly bar
like establishment. All in all the
dining experience at Toot’s was very pleasant and we will plan to return again.
